I’ve got a song about a Bible hero
And I’d like to sing it for you all today
A tribute to the man we know as Joseph
Jesus’ father in an earthly way
Well the Bible says that Joseph was a just man
with plans to dismiss Mary quietly
Then an angel, in a dream, told him of God’s plan
of Jesus and who He was to be
Now we do not know if Joseph had his own plans
about where to live or what to make of life
But if he did, instead, he put himself in God’s hands, with this boy
Jesus and with Mary, his wife
For an angel came again and warned of danger, saying
Take Jesus and Mary. Rise and flee
So they traveled first to Egypt, then to Israel
and later on to Nazareth of Galilee
