Lefty’s Song – Lyrics

Way back when I was a young man — just a kid, actually,
My sister had this boyfriend, he was — six years older than me.
He drove cars and motorcycles, so he be-came a role model, naturally.
And, if you know me you may know here that I’m speakin’ about the late and great Lefty!

He had always somethin’ goin’, somethin’ doin’, always someplace new to go.
If not some new race to race in, some new club, some new place with some new show.
And it never was a matter of just getting from Point A to that point B,
No, just gettin’ there was at least half the fun, when you went with old Lefty.

CHORUS:
And, no it never was a matter of just getting from point A to some point B.
No, it was all about the rider there – – – – when you rode with old Lefty.
Yes, and all along the way there, makin’ new friends and collecting memories.
And no matter where he was, where he was was a – good place to be.

He was often out at work in his garage there with the spray cans and the wheels.
Although he wasn’t always out there, sometimes he would go into the house for meals.
Or down to Pintos or to Holeczys or to Schulers where he chose his time to pass
But you know, for all that time he spent there hangin’ out, I never once saw him buy gas.

REPEAT CHORUS

Now there was another talent [besides general mechanical genius] where he had the edge;
He was a master – a wizard – an artist with a crowbar and a sledge
When it was time to fix the bathroom, Oh, he fixed it, sure enough, and totally.
Another job well done by our friend and super hero, Lefty.

REPEAT CHORUS

Repeat last line of chorus
then:
And when I die I’m goin’ ta fly across that golden sky and go and see Lefty.
